CAL-ORE – NOTICE OF DATA EVENT

Cal-Ore Telecommunications Company (“Cal-Ore”) is providing notice of an incident that may impact the security of customer information. Although we have no evidence of actual or attempted misuse of your information, this notification provides details of the incident, our response, and resources available to you to help protect your personal information from possible misuse, should you feel it is appropriate to do so.
What Happened? On July 5, 2022, Cal-Ore became aware of potential unauthorized access to our network. Upon discovery, we promptly began an investigation, aided by third-party forensic specialists, to determine the full nature and scope of the incident. We also notified law enforcement and worked to secure the Cal-Ore network. As a result of our investigation, we confirmed that select locations on our systems may have been accessed and some files may have been removed without authorization between June 16, 2022 to July 5, 2022.
What Information Was Involved? While the specific data elements vary for each potentially affected individual, the scope of information potentially involved includes name, Social Security number, driver’s license number/government issued identification, online account username and password credentials, financial account information, payment card information, medical information, and health insurance information. Although this information may have been accessible, there is no indication that this information was misused. However, in an abundance of caution, Cal-Ore is notifying individuals whose information was involved.
What Is Cal-Ore Doing? Upon learning of this incident, we moved quickly to investigate and respond to this incident, assess the security of our systems, restore functionality to our environment, and notify potentially affected individuals. As part of our ongoing commitment to the security of information, we notified federal law enforcement and are reviewing and enhancing our existing policies and procedures related to data privacy to reduce the likelihood of a similar future event.
What You Can Do? We encourage you to remain vigilant against potential incidents of identity theft and fraud, to review your account statements, and to monitor your credit reports for suspicious activity. Under U.S. law, a consumer is entitled to one free credit report annually from each of the three major credit reporting bureaus, Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. To order your free credit report, visit www.annualcreditreport.com or call, toll-free, 1-877-322-8228. Individuals may also contact the three major credit bureaus directly to request a free copy of their credit report, place a fraud alert, or a security freeze. Individuals can further educate themselves regarding identity theft, fraud alerts, security freezes, and steps to protect their information by contacting the Federal Trade Commission or your state Attorney General. Instances of known or suspected identity theft should be reported to law enforcement and the state attorney general.
